Tall Girls Unite!!!

Last night we ate at the Rhinelander Pub & Cafe. The hostess stood next to me when we arrived at our table and smiled widely. “It’s so nice to see another tall girl.” I smiled back and said, “I hear ya. You don’t see too many tall girls up north.” I loved that encounter with a younger version of me because standing 6-10 inches taller than everyone else can get a bit…well, weird and/or awkward. I have to either sit or bend/hunch over to be a part of conversations. And I didn’t truly realize how tall I was compared to my girlfriends until I saw a picture of us at a women’s conference. I stood on the road while my gal-pals were on the curb by our bus. I was still a head taller than them. And I know that size doesn’t matter and that we’re to love everyone of all shapes and sizes, but sometimes it’s nice to have someone who is the same because, quite simply, people that share similar traits and life experiences “get” one another without really saying a word. : )

  1. That makes me smile. I totally “get” the height thing, and I have often been shocked when I’ve seen pictures and realize how much taller I am than others. Let’s always get our pictures taken together. We can always book end some of the other shorter ones and make the picture look totally symmetrical!
