What are YOU going to do about it? (Poem & Commentary)

Stuff. Simmer. Spread. Seek.
Info gone awry.
Wreaking havoc on my peace.
The word is said. The word is read.
But communication weak.
What to do.
I’m just not sure.
Be quiet. Stuff it deep inside.
Offense simmers…
sizzles deep inside.
Mind racing.
Minutes multiplying.
Thoughts derailing peace.
Thumbs attack scrambled alphabet,
reinforcements do I seek.
“Can you believe he said that?”
“What did I do wrong?”
Insecurities swirl.
Confusion reigns.
Breakdown.
Wrong.
But then…
Wisdom relieves Stinkin’ Thinkin’:
“Seek the source.”
Reveal the Truth.
Get clarity.
Receive peace.

So the question is?  Why is it so difficult for people to confront a person when a miscommunication has taken place? Just yesterday, as I was driving home after spending the morning with a very good friend, my mind kept going back to something she had said while we were together. Rather than “chewing on it” all day, I called her and explained what I had “heard” her say (i.e., how I received it). She clarified what she meant and it made perfect sense. I actually agree with what she meant to say. I COULD have been miserable all day, letting that negative perception play havoc with my mind; however, I’m so glad that I took the advice of my amazing pastor regarding addressing “stuff” right away. Don’t talk to others about “it”…simply go to the source. Otherwise, instead of one little fire (i.e., an issue with one person), you have to do “clean-up” of several fires (i.e., everyone you talked to).  So….the next time YOU encounter a miscommunication or someone tweaks your peace, the question remains:

What are YOU going to do about it?
